Zero Waste Bathroom – The Tushy Toilet Bidet Attachment

The word Bidet is traditionally defined as a fixture similar in design to a toilet that is straddled for washing the genitals and the anal area. Now though, there are new types of bidets. I was lucky enough to get to try one of these.

I have never used a bidet before, to be honest, I have never even seen one.  When I began the journey towards zero waste is when I first heard about using a bidet. I was skeptical at first,

How can something that uses water to clean my bum actually help with the conservation of water?

When you see the numbers side by side it all makes sense.

The Tushy Bidet Attachments is not a separate fixture from your toilet. It is an adjustable attachment that easily installs onto your toilet.  This takes away the waste of having to have actual plumbing work done on your home in order to have a bidet, which also saves an ample amount of money.

I received the Tushy very quickly, it only took 2 days to arrive.  I went to work on installing it right away. It took me about an hour all together, including finding the tools I needed to install it because I rarely use my tools and wasn’t sure where they were. The installation was simple, it was only a matter of screwing and unscrewing a few nuts and bolts.

Once it was installed, everyone wanted to try it. I did the work of installing it so I got first dibs! It was a life changing experience to say the least. I felt as clean as if I had just stepped out of the shower. I felt refreshed and undoubtedly cleaner than ever before.

There is a learning curve to it as with any other gadget. I had to adjust the position so the self cleaning nozzle was pointing at just the right spot. It is very useful that the position can be adjusted not only front to back but side to side as well.

The knob is easy to understand and use. You can adjust the pressure of the water so that it is a comfortable and pleasant experience. There is a small lever like button to move the nozzle around a bit, however, I don’t really feel much of a position difference using the lever. Instead I like to lean forwards or back to get an optimal clean all around.

All of my communications with the Tushy company have been good and the staff I have been in touch with is very friendly. We received the Tushy Cool but if you prefer Warm water they have that option as well.

There are other parts of our home that still need more work and are not zero waste yet but conquering the bathroom is no small feat!

The Tushy was the last piece of the puzzle for us to become completely zero waste in the bathroom!

*Although I received the Tushy free of charge, I was in the market for a bidet and my experience with the product is unbiased and based on 2 weeks of usage prior to writing this review. *
